Final Video

Teledramatic Arts Final

The first video i made in this class wasn't so good. But I was ok with it because it was the first video I made by myself. The title in it wasn't so centered, all the clips were just randomly placed, and I didn't really plan anything out in it. The next video I clearly remember was the "Cyberbullying" I helped make. It was the first time ever that I was in a group that really planned out everything in the video. I really liked working with that group and i'm glad that it was the first group I worked with. I learned a lot about planning things out, going to different people for information, making titles, putting up videos to my blog, making music on the acid program, and overall just really thinking things through. The next few videos where I learned something from was the "Green Screen" ones. Even though it's not the best video or my favorite video that I made, I still think it was pretty good. I learned from that that it's better to film when you're more comfortable to make a better video. I was in front of most of the class and people were staring at me and it really got me nervous. But at least I learned from my experience. That video was more planned out and I took more time thinking about it. It's also when I learned that when you're making a video where two people are talking to each other, you film each person individually and then you edit the videos to make it look like they were talking to each other. Next, one of my favorite videos I made was the over the shoulder video. I was disappointed when the clip with me and Cesar were filmed over because we did a really good job. Instead, we worked with what we had and we did a pretty good job. I learned from Cesar to choose a really good in and out points. The video was rushed and the conversation between the two girls went by really fast. I learned that it's better to have a good tempo and pacing when there is a conversation because then it'll be better understood. The video that I'm really proud of is "The Test". That one had more things planned out than any other video I have ever made. My group and I really thought about the script making, the shots, the lighting, and giving out emotions on a film. I liked the shot where the camera was looking down on the stack of papers that Dr. Achterman was holding. I learned from that video the importance of music in a clip. An example would be when I start sharpening my pencil and the suspensful music starts playing. It helped add that feeling of suspense and suspicion to the film and I really liked it. The "Jabberwocky" video was really good. I'm a little bit disappointed that I didn't really use that many abstract images because of time. But overall it was a pretty good video. I learned about using special effects and how abstract art can help make an interesting video. One of my favorite clips in that was where the clouds are all wavy because it gives them a lazy, relaxed feeling. The final video I helped make was the one with Juanmanuel and Cesar as my partners. It was fun going around the school looking for people and I learned a good lesson from that. To get people in an interview you have to not be shy or scared to ask people. A video I forgot to mention was "The Unwanted Orphan". I really planned out a lot of it and I think I did a pretty good job. Mario and I really had things planned out and the pictures stayed consistant with the video. I learned about how lighting can give off certain moods like in some of the darker pictures we used in the beginning. One thing my blog doesn't really show, but that I still learned, were to carefully plan out every shot. Now every time i'm watching T.V. or a movie I really notice the use of camera angles and music. They have to work together to give off the right emotions that you're trying to give out. I learned a lot about story writing and to really take your time to make a great project. I learned a lot about the camera and the lighting and just a lot of different cool things I didn't really think about when I would be watching something on T.V. Overall, my experience in this class was great/ There were a lot of times when I just felt like giving up or not even trying but somehow I didn't want to give up. This class was one of my favorite classes i've ever taken and i'm sort of thinking about starting a career in film making. This class was really fun and it helped me learn a lot about making videos flow smoothly and to work right. I'm glad that I took this class and will always remember it. I'm really going to miss this class.

Stanza 1 for Jabberwocky

My favorite special effect was the wave warp we used at the end. The wave warped helped make the clouds look like they're moving. The mood we tried to emphasize was a feeling of relaxation. We were trying to show a nice relaxing afternoon day.

I think our video the is great because we put good music in it and many transitions. We put good tips and good reasons as to why the STAR tests are important and added a little humor. We also worked hard to put this video clip together.

Thinking About Our Final Values Video

This post is from Cristian.

The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from Jaay/Cassie and Alexis.

Jaay/Cassie told us that, "Once the music starts it adds to the tension of the situation", and that was helpful because it showed that our music helped emphasize the mood.

In addition, Alexis told us that,"AS the student walks out to the front of the room to the dorr to see if the teacher was in sight then it goes to a planning of the view poutside",and that helped us see that people liked that shot because more than one person said that they liked that shot.

The two best suggestions we got were from Zack/Sam and Bree/Liz

Zack/Sam suggested that we, "Should fade it our instead of letting it end abruptly." We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to at the end of the scene where the music is playing, we're gonna make it fade out.

Bree/Liz suggested that we, "Should have used a dissolved instead, because it would have showed time passing". We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to put a dissolve transition in the clip to make it show like time passed.

Over the Shoulder

For this video we filmed our own video, but this other group filmed over our clip and it got erased. Before we shot our own film, we made sure that it showed the person's shoulder and the person who was talking was at the rule of thirds. This video did follow the rule of thirds, and I think they did it so that people's eyes would switch from one person to another. I think the impression that these shots give is that the people are having a realistic, serious conversation because it keeps going back and forth. I don't think the dialogue was realistic because they talked in a monotone throughout the video. While editing the video, some challenges we faced was that one of the girls messed up a lot when she was doing her parts and we weren't sure which clips of hers to use. I think their tone was a serious tone because it didn't really have different emotions. Over the shoulder shots help show how a conversation would flow if it was happening in real life. Over the shoulder shots mostly help with a conversation in a scene because it keeps switching back and forth between the people taalking. It helps make the conversation a little more realistic.
